André Knops

Ph.D, HDR

Full researcher

CNRS

André Knops is CNRS Director of Research in Developmental Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at Université Paris Cité. After graduating in psychology from the University of Marburg (Germany), André obtained his PhD in psychology from the University of Aix la Chapelle in 2006. André then worked as a postdoctoral fellow in several laboratories in France (Neurospin, Saclay), Italy (Trento), and Germany (Aix la Chapelle) before obtaining an Emmy Noether fellowship, which enabled him to build and run his own laboratory at Humboldt University in Berlin (Germany) from 2012 to 2017, where he was then Professor of General Psychology between 2016 and 2017. In 2018, he joined the CNRS as a CRCN. André's research aims to better understand the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying the learning and memorization of quantitative (e.g. numbers, time) and ordered information. He is studying the contribution of space to the representation of this information. He uses classical experimental as well as functional neuroimaging methods. Using an interdisciplinary approach, he seeks to translate the knowledge acquired in this field into educational practice.
