André Knops est Directeur de Recherche CNRS en psychologie du développement et neurosciences cognitives à l’Université Paris Cité. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme en psychologie à l’université de Marburg (Allemagne), André a obtenu son doctorat en psychologie à l’université d’Aix la Chapelle en 2006. André a ensuite été postdoctorant dans plusieurs laboratoire en France (Neurospin, Saclay), Italie (Trento), et Allemagne (Aix la Chapelle) avant d’obtenir une bourse Emmy Noether qui lui a permis de construire et diriger son propre laboratoire a l’université de Humboldt à Berlin (Allemagne) de 2012 à 2017 ou il a ensuite été professeur en psychologie générale entre 2016 et 2017. En 2018, il a rejoint le CNRS en tant que CRCN. Les recherches d'André visent à mieux comprendre les mécanismes cognitifs et neuronaux qui sous-tendent l'apprentissage et la mémorisation d'informations quantitatives (ex. : nombres, temps) et ordonnées. Il étudie la contribution de l'espace à la représentation de ces informations. Il utilise des méthodes expérimentales classiques ainsi que des méthodes d'imagerie neuro-fonctionnelle. Par une approche interdisciplinaire, il cherche à traduire les connaissances acquises dans ce domaine dans la pratique éducative.
